Broad Cove Spooky Stroll

Halloween will kick off with the Broad Cove Spooky Stroll. The Cape Elizabeth Fire Department will be leading the parade, again, beginning at the corner of Pine Ridge and Roundabout Ln. The parade starts at 4:15. The march around Roundabout takes about 20 minutes and ends in front of the Zimmerman's house. We will have prizes for best costumes as well as treats for both kids and adults.

This year we also plan to have pizza and popcorn. We are asking for volunteers to brings food and snacks. If you'd like to join the Halloween Committee, we'd be grateful. Please email Tracey Grela at: tgrela@hotmail.com

Trick Or Treating in Broad Cove will begin after the Spooky Stroll, which should be around 5pm, leaving some daylight for the little ones.

Ghost Stories Canceled

Sadly, the storm has covered the beach with very slippery seaweed and the conditions remain extremely wet. Since it will be so dark out there tonight with the cloud cover, we feel it will be unsafe. We have decided to cancel this year's ghost stories on the beach.

The good news is Halloween looks to be dry and relatively warm. We hope to see you at the Spooky Stroll on Monday evening at 4:15.

Be well and drive slowly.

Broad Cove Annual Meeting

It is time again for our annual meeting. This year’s meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 29 at 7pm. The meeting will take place at the Cape Elizabeth Community Center (near the entrance to the high school). At the meeting the board intends to provide all property owners an update on the Association’s financial position, and review our proposed plan going in to 2016.

Please note two specific topics up for discussion this year are investments and improvements needed for our “common areas,” and the potential for mandatory assessments of all residents of Broad Cove to cover fixed costs, such as liability insurance.  These fixed costs benefit all residents and are a requirement of association members/all property owners.

Last, as a reminder, all property owners are technically considered members of the association and asked to attend the meeting if possible. Those who pay receive the benefits from the fuel program, the neighborhood directory, and are considered in “good standing” as members of the association. For the 132 paying members, thank you again for your continued support.

Broad Cove Yard Sale, Aug 16th

We are having a neighborhood yard sale on Saturday, August 16th from 9am to 1pm. We will be posting a sign by the entrance to Broad Cove as well as a notice on Craigslist and possibly the Cape Courier. Suzan Mistler-Belcher is organizing this event, so if you'd like to participate in the neighborhood yard sale, please email her at: smistlerbelcher@gmail.com

What to do with the unsold items?  If it is in good condition, we may have a solution for you.

The Salvation Army has been contacted and will be sending a truck around 2 pm to pick up those leftover items,  Suzan must know in advance if you are interested.  They will only pick up from homes on the list she generates for them.  They do request that the items be at the end of the driveway, boxed or bagged if it is clothing.

The South Portland Congregational Church supports The Children's Closet. This program provides clothing, free of charge, to those in need.  If you have children's clothing and would like to contribute to this organization, please let Suzan know.  An arrangement will be made to pick up and drop off the items for you.

Ghost Stories on the Beach

This is an all-ages event, although we suspect there are a few little ones, even adults, who may wish to stay at home. Weather permitting, we will have a bonfire on the beach and tell ghost stories. From Broad Cove Billy sightings to Cassie the Casco Bay Sea Serpent, it is sure to be great fun. Feel free to bring your own story.

If you have spare wood to contribute to the bonfire, please drop it off at the top of the steps to Broad Cove beach, the steps near Broad Cove Rd, anytime after 5pm. If the weather does not cooperate and we can not secure a permit, the is no need to drop off wood. We will post to this website by noon on Friday the 27th, whether we got a permit. The general rule for a permit is the wind must be under 10 mph.
